MANIFESTO
Helping Businesses Grow, Lead, and Succeed
Harry Mostert Associates helps owner-led businesses identify what is really constraining progress, decide what needs to change, and — where we have the capability — help build the solution.
02
WHAT MATTERS
Business problems rarely arrive neatly labelled.
Does this sound familiar?
You’re growing, but the business isn’t keeping up.
Demand has increased faster than the systems, people, or management structure behind it.
There are too many possible directions.
The problem isn’t finding opportunities. It’s deciding which ones deserve attention.
You know what you’re good at, but the market doesn’t.
The capability is there. The proposition, language, or route to market isn’t.
Growth has stalled, but you can’t see why.
More sales activity may help — or make the underlying problem worse.
Too much still depends on you.
The owner has become the operating system.
You know something needs to happen. Nobody is making it happen.
The strategy exists, but implementation keeps falling.
These issues often look separate on the surface, but they are usually connected. Growth problems can be caused by unclear positioning, weak systems, overloaded people, poor information, or a business structure that no longer fits where the company is trying to go. The first task is to work out what is actually getting in the way.
03
THE HMA METHOD
Diagnose
What is actually preventing the business from growing or getting where the owner wants it to go?
The problem you can see isn’t always the problem you need to solve.
Define
What needs to change — commercially, operationally, organisationally or in the market?
Build
Where HMA has the capability, we help turn the required change into something operational.
Regardless of industry or company size, most businesses are built on the same underlying elements: Systems, Data, Process, Structure, and People. Problems usually appear when one or more of these no longer support what the business is trying to achieve.
The diagnostic process looks across those elements to distinguish the symptom from the cause. From there, HMA can define the change required and determine what should be built, improved, removed, or handed to a specialist. Diagnose the constraint first. Then define the required change. Only then decide what should be built.
A lead problem may really be a proposition problem.
A growth problem may really be a capacity problem.
A staffing problem may really be an operating-model problem.
04
THE ASSOCIATION
Strategy is more useful when someone can help make it real.
Most business problems do not stop neatly at the point where the strategy has been identified. A decision about growth can quickly become a question of structure, positioning, sales communication, digital systems or customer acquisition.
HMA brings together two different but complementary areas of experience so that, where appropriate, the work can continue beyond diagnosis into practical implementation.
Harry and Abir have worked together in various forms for many years, but their capabilities sit at different points in the problem-solving process.
Harry’s background is in business direction, commercial strategy, management, operations, and difficult owner-level decisions.
Abir’s background spans positioning, communications, digital, websites, content, marketing, and customer-acquisition systems.
Together, that means HMA can often work further downstream than traditional advisory work: from identifying what needs to change to helping implement the parts of that change we are equipped to deliver.
05
EXPERTISE
There is no fixed HMA package. The work depends on what the business actually needs.
The diagnosis determines the work. Depending on the business, that might mean improving commercial direction, strengthening the operating model, clarifying the proposition, rebuilding market-facing communications, or creating a more effective path to customers.
HMA does not force every problem into the same solution. When specialist expertise is required beyond our capabilities, we say so.
